Bags of Felt

Step by step guidance in designing and making a decorative
felt bag. Learn how to felt 'in the round' with no need for stitching seams as the
felt will do it for you. Enjoy working with beautiful coloured merino wool and silk
fibres to create your own design. We will help you to choose wool fibres suitable
for making felt and show you how to make a template for a small bag. You will learn
the technique of laying out fibres to felt without seams and be shown how to add
simple surface decoration and a variety of finishes for the bag.
Surface Texture in Felt -

This is an experimental workshop exploring methods of combining stitch within the feltmaking process, creating insertions within the layers of wool and fabric prior to the feltmaking process. The layering approach creates interesting and unusual textures on the surface of the felt which can then be further embellished when dry. This is complex feltmaking, suitable for those with previous experience of making felt by hand. Limited places.
